This is our third year coming to Oaky’s, and it’s become a meaningful tradition for us. We originally found it in 2022 while searching for a rehearsal dinner spot near our wedding venue. At the time, they were just starting to work on the new addition out back—and we were actually the very first party to use that space! They went above and beyond for our event, creating customized menus just for us and even setting up cornhole, which made it such a fun and relaxed evening. Everything about the experience—from the food and drinks to the welcoming atmosphere—was exactly what we had hoped for. Since then, we’ve made it a point to come back every year. The food and drinks remain consistently great, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. You can really tell the owners take pride in everything they do. Oaky’s isn’t just a restaurant to us—it’s part of our story now, and we look forward to many more visits in the years to come.
New York strip steak was absolutely delicious!!! Made just the way we wanted. It came with mashed potatoes with gravy. One of us ordered the extra shrimp on the side in the garlic butter sauce we shared it & they were absolutely delicious!!
My family had Din Din here two nights in a row. The first night we had the Smokehouse Mac. I would have this mac & cheese over and over and over if I could. It was so delicious, extremely satisfying, most certainly homey and comfy. The following night we enjoyed the Smoked Brisket. It didn’t come with a side of vegetables however we ordered a side of broccoli and it was the most beautiful broccoli I’ve ever ordered. It was large and it was seasoned well and it was cooked to perfection and had texture as well. It came with the brisket, which was the highlight of the dish. The brisket melts in your mouth. I’d rate the mashed potatoes 7/10. It wasn’t as buttery or creamy as I’d prefer. But it was delicious. I can’t get over those delicious crispy, very tasty fried onions that are topped and garnished. It was indeed filling, worth every penny. I recommend both dishes and give them both 11/10. Both dishes were a bold definition of comfort food.
My wife, mom, and I went to Oaky’s—easily one of our favorite spots in Grand Traverse County. The food, service, and atmosphere are always outstanding. This place truly never disappoints. On Sunday the bloody Mary’s are 3 off and the upgrade with the bacon makes it a wonderful refreshment for any time of the day. We weren’t planning on getting appetizers, but after seeing the table next to us order the Zesty Pickle Fries, we couldn’t resist. They were absolutely amazing—crispy, tangy, and packed with flavor. For our mains, we ordered two spicy chicken sandwiches (no cheese), served with a fresh side salad and Oaky’s incredible tater tots—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also tried the Bayou Mac, which was rich, creamy, and full of bold, savory flavor. Oaky’s continues to impress every time we visit. Highly recommend!
We loved our experience her. When you walk in you get this small town bar feel. Very cozy. Then they ask if you want to sit in the back. That is where it opens up into this larger dining room with a high ceiling and fireplace. Very modern. They also have a lot of outdoor seating. We arrived 45 minutes before closing. We assumed they would turn us away but they served us and we got great service from our waitress. The food was good. I got the deluxe Cheeseburger. It was cooked to perfection. This is a great restaurant. the fire sprinklers but they have plenty of exits.
Best wings in town - They didn’t last long enough for photos. The dry rub is phenomenal. Pictured is one of the cod tacos - hand breaded and loved the toppings. Restaurant is much larger than it appears from the highway due to a beautiful recent renovation. Can’t believe it took us this long to get in, we will definitely be back soon though.
